Cycle the stunning Mennock Pass

Pass through romantic wedding destination, Gretna Green

Cycle through the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Tackle the ascent of Fleet Moss

A four-day cycle ride where you will cycle 442km with an elevation of 5535m.

Day 1:

The groups will set off and start cycling south towards Sanquhar for the night. Everyone will be cycling through the Lowther Hill range, and towards the highest village in Scotland – Wanlockhead. The descent is through the scenic Mennock Pass, which weaves through the beautiful southern uplands.

Day 2:

Departing from Sanquhar there are a few hills in the morning that will wake the legs up for the rest of the day’s ride. After passing through Dumfries, the riding becomes fairly flat and it won’t be long until we are waving goodbye to Scotland and saying Hello to England, as we cross the border. We cross via the famous village of Gretna Green, where couples used to elope from England to get married. Towards the end of the day you will be riding into Carlisle for the night.

Day 3:

Our focus for today is the fabulous Yorkshire Dales, which you will pretty much ride from top to bottom. The first half of the day passes Carlisle racecourse and winds its way along quiet country roads through Ingle Wood and Eden District and between the Lakes and the North Pennines AONB until we enter the Dales after Kirkby Stephen.

This distance on this day will see you cycle near to 137km. Once you have reached the summit of Fleet Moss (see climb profile below) at 110km, you will descend through Deepdale before joining the Tour de France route and the rolling terrain will take you towards Wharfdale, Kettlewell and onto your accommodation for the night in Grassington.

Day 4:

This is our final day of riding and we have saved the best for last! We take on two climbs; Oxenhope Moor and Heptonstall Road in West Yorkshire.

Everyone departs from Grassington and cycles past the 12th century ruins of Bolton Abbey and into Skipton. It’s not long before the long steady climb from the village of Oxenhope taking you to the top of Oxenhope Moor. This was referred to as Côte d’ Oxenhope Moor when it was used in the Tour de France Grand Depart.

After the descent into Hebden Bridge, the route climbs back up onto the Upper Calder Valley, before descending down into Burnley where you will be able to celebrate your achievements.
