An Ekiden is a type of long-distance relay race. Each team has its own sash, also known as a tasuki, which is worn by the runner and then handed off to the teammate running the next leg of the race.
Our route starts in Oxford and finish in Windsor, a beautiful 72 mile route along the Thames Path. The Ekiden needs to be done as part of a team of 10 people, who will pass the traditional tasuki sash instead of a baton. The sash symbolises unity and togetherness, and becomes a focal part of the emotion and excitement. You can have as many teams as you like but we recommend no more than 20. Each handover point will be at a venue along the route where runners can come and warm up before their leg. There will also be snacks and refreshments for those finishing their leg at that handover point.
Runners are welcome to make their own way to the finish line to cheer in their teammates, or we can put on coaches.
If you have another location or distance in mind, no problem! Just let us know and we can create a route bespoke to you.
