PROFESSIONAL CRICKETERS’ TRUST LONDON TO PARIS CHARITY BIKE RIDE
October 10, 2023 - October 13, 2023
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
We are delighted to be working with the Professional Cricketers’ Trust in the delivery of its London to Paris Charity Bike Ride. The 2023 ride promises to be the Trust’s biggest and best yet and you can play your part in cricket’s £50,000 mental health fundraiser.
The challenge begins on 10 October 2023, coinciding with World Mental Health Day. Providing the perfect opportunity to bring mental health to the forefront of people’s minds, the players’ charity will use the awareness day to highlight the need to raise funds to combat the growing trend of welfare and wellbeing issues through a bucket list challenge for charity.
This headline event for the charity in 2023 is aiming to raise £50,000, a substantial figure given the Trust operates with no funding partner at present. If achieved, the successful riders will secure enough donations to provide life-changing and in some cases life-saving mental health support for over 50 individuals.
- Join current and former players for this bucket list challenge
- Combat over 400km in three days
- Finish at the Eiffel Tower
- Celebration event in Paris
- a few one day places are available on request
Tuesday 10th October
Oval London to Portsmouth (149km)
We meet early on Tuesday morning at The Oval. You’ll have a chance to register with the pie team and meet your guide before the welcome speech and safety briefing. Its then out onto the road for the ride to Portsmouth!
Our route takes us the safest and most scenic way out of London and into the Surrey Hills. The first stop of the day will be in a village hall, offering the opportunity to spend a few minutes off the saddle and to reward yourself with a slice of cake (or two)!
We pass through some wonderful scenery as we continue our journey south towards Portsmouth, stopping for lunch and again later on in the afternoon for further refreshments. Today is the hilliest day, as we cross over the North and South Downs, but the good news is we spend much of the afternoon cycling downhill as we make our way to the coast and the final destination of Portsmouth.
Dinner & changing facilities will be provided, before transferring to the overnight ferry to France. Accommodation will be provided in 2-berth en-suite cabins on the ferry.
Wednesday 11th October – Caen to Evreux (145km)
The ferry arrives early into Ouistreham where we disembark to have breakfast in a local cafe. It’s then a ride along the estuary, before crossing the famous Pegasus Bridge and heading into the French countryside.
Again, there will be three stops during the day, before finishing at the town of Evreux. Dinner is taken at a local restaurant.
Thursday 12th October – Evreux to Paris (124km)
The final day! You’ll need little motivation to begin the final push towards Paris! Today is the shortest day of the trip, and you will have time to reflect on the achievements of the past few days as we pass fields of sunflowers and corn. Our final refreshment stop is at the magnificent Palace of Versailles, before we enter the Parisian suburbs and make our way to the Arc de Triomphe!
That evening you will have the opportunity to toast your success at the celebration meal in a wonderful venue, along with fellow cyclists.
Friday 13th October – Travel Home

Looking After You
The event is fully supported with guides at a ratio of one guide to 10 cyclists, support vehicles, tour leaders and medics. Each day you will receive breakfast at the hotel before setting off, morning and afternoon refreshment stops while on the ride, a substantial lunch plus dinner and twin room accommodation each night.
The London to Paris is a guided ride with groups being led by pie guides who help all abilities complete the challenge. In an age where independence rather than group cycling is heralded, those not familiar with the pie guiding system may be reluctant to follow rather than lead.
- We offer guided rides to make sure we offer the very best care to our cyclists
- All of our guides are experienced cyclists. They range from ex-professional racers to keen amateurs and all are very used to guiding groups of differing abilities, experience and skill
- All of our guides will navigate their small group of 8 – 10 cyclists, from start to finish
- They are on hand to do mechanical work so there is no waiting around for a mechanic’s van
- Many pie guides are first aid trained
- Cyclists can change groups (up or down) at any time during the day
You will be receiving an exclusive tour cycle jersey. Please note your size below and advise your size on the registration form link below. Most cycle jerseys are “figure hugging”, “slim” or “race” fit and can therefore come up a little small! You may therefore wish to go up a size.
We have set up a Strava “club” for the Professional Cricketers’ Trust London to Paris ride. The link will be sent to you when you sign up. If you have already got a personal Strava account you can just log on using the link we will send, join the “club” and start your training with other Professional Cricketers’ Trust cyclists. If you haven’t got a Strava account, simply enter your details in the “Sign Up for Free” section on Strava.
Don’t be daunted by the leader board and other people’s fast times! As the rides are guided, different groups will ride at different speeds, so there is something for everyone.
