REPIC WEEE Two Decade Tour – 13th – 21st JUNE 2024

REPIC WEEE Two Decade Tour – 13th – 21st JUNE 2024

  • June 13, 2024 - June 21, 2024
    9:00 am - 5:00 pm

After the success of last year’s REPIC WEEE Cycle Network Event being held in celebration of 15 years of electrical recycling in the UK, we are delighted to be working with REPIC WEEE again to deliver a 9 day ride from Bury to Brussels, the REPIC  Two Decade Tour.

This fully supported 9 day ride is by invitation only.

Dates of Ride:

The event starts from Bury on Thursday 13th June 2024.

Finishing in Brussels on Friday 21st June 2024.

Route overview:

Itinerary:

We assemble in the morning on Thursday 13th June to start our journey south towards Nantwich. In addition, there will be occasional PR events over the course of the 9 days at key locations.

On all days, the peloton will stop for refreshments in the morning, lunch and afternoon at scheduled refreshment stops. On shorter days, the stops will be adjusted to reflect the time on the bike.

Bikes:

You will have been allocated an ebike if requested. If in doubt, please contact Andy Kellar: AKellar@repic.co.uk

All electric bikes are being hired from Lake District Bike – The Best Bike Hire in the Lake District

This is an on road bike event and the ebikes provided will be suitable for the ride. Each bike will be equipped with bottle cages.

Those riders selecting these bikes will be supplied with a “Top Tips” sheet on how to get the best out of an ebike in advance of the ride.

Helmets:

All riders need to rent a helmet or bring along your own on the day. Riding without a helmet will not be permitted.

Pedals:

Ebikes will be provided with flat pedals. Flat pedals are best used with stiff shoes. If you wish to bring your own pedals (and paired shoes) to be fitted to the ebike please do so. We will have pedal spanners.

Fitness:

Refer to the table above to make sure you have the correct fitness to complete the ride. These bikes are heavier than normal as they have battery assisted power. The distance the charge lasts is dependent on terrain, weight of rider, style of riding, road surface, etc. All bikes will come fully charged. If you run out of power then they are just extremely heavy bikes!

If you are getting one of the ebikes, you will still need to be “road bike savvy”.  This means you will need to be prepared for riding in traffic, over potholes and drainage covers, drinking from a water bottle while on the go, riding in the rain and the heat, etc. Although static (indoor) bikes are good to train on, they don’t replicate the outdoor road experience.

What’s Included:

  • Attendance at the activity offered on your riding day
  • All food for your day
  • Support vehicle
  • Guides for the group
  • ebike – if agreed in advance
  • Branded water bottle

What’s Not Included:
