• October 3, 2018 - October 6, 2018
    8:00 am - 8:00 pm

This inaugural ride is for guests and employees of True, raising money for Tommy’s, the UK’s number one baby charity.  Individuals will tackle the Climb Challenge in the Tramuntana mountains on the Thursday 4th October and teams of four will take part in a Team Sportive on the Friday 5th October.

The Climb Challenge provides the opportunity for riders to choose from three different routes, all with guides, so participants can pick the route best suited to their cycling experience and ability. The routes summit the best of Mallorca’s climbs including Sa Calobra and Puig Major for those who dare, and the likes of Col d’Orient for those who want a challenge but are not committed athletes!

The Team Sportive will be a self-guided 100km pre-defined flat route to the north of the island, available to teams of 4 as well as to individuals who will be matched with others to create a team.

Included in the Challenge fee, cyclists are offered a guided warm up ride on the Wednesday; can have their bikes transported from the UK to Mallorca and back; for all days support vehicles, mechanics, medics, food and drink pitstops, post-ride food, evening meals and accommodation are all provided, in addition to  amazing cycling and final celebratory awards and dinner.

October 3rd – 6th 2018

Day 1 – Wednesday 3rd October – The Warm Up Loop

Transfer from Palma airport to Puerto Pollensa and the start hotel will be provided if you are on the recommended flights as per below.

Lunch will be provided on arrival while bikes are set up, and cyclists are divided into guided groups. Set off on your choice of guided warm up rides from the three options above. All routes start along the sea front before heading into the hills. There will be a refreshment stop half way along the ride.

The warm-up ride will be followed by a briefing on the Climb Challenge for the next day.

Dinner and accommodation will be provided at the Club Pollentia

Day 2 – Thursday 4th October – The Climb Challenge

Today is spent in the hilly and picturesque north-west region of Mallorca, the Tramuntana mountains. Choose your distance and elevation from the below options and head out on your pie guided ride to clock up some cols – various speeds and abilities catered for. There will be stops during the day to make sure you are hydrated and fully fuelled for your challenge.

Following the ride there will be a briefing on the Team Sportive for the next day.

Dinner and accommodation will be provided at the Club Pollentia.

Day 3 – Friday 5th October – The Team Sportive

This is a 100km self-guided loop around the flat-lands in teams of four.

The teams will set off in waves and all members of the team will have to cycle within a minimum distance of each other. Chip timing will confirm the fastest team time as dictated by the last person over the line. There will be a 10-minute enforced break at two stops to allow for bike safety checks and to ensure cyclists are fed and watered.

Cyclists that enter as individuals will be teamed-up with other riders for the 100km Team Sportive.

There will be a prize for the winning team. It’s not all about having the fastest members though – if you go too fast between stops, the team is given a time penalty and you will to have to stay in the ‘Sin Bin’ for a few minutes! For safety reasons time trial bikes won’t be allowed on this event. More information to follow.

Dinner and awards ceremony, with accommodation provided at Club Pollentia.

Looking After You

The route has been fully recce’d and will be along smaller roads making the cycling fun as well as challenging.  The True Cycling Challenge is fully supported with one guide to approximately 10 cyclists on the guided challenges, as well as mechanics, support vehicles, tour leaders and medics. Each day you will receive breakfast at the hotel before setting off, morning and afternoon refreshment stops while on the ride, a substantial lunch, post-ride snacks, dinner and single room accommodation.

pie Guides

The True Cycling Challenge includes two guided rides as well as the Team Sportive. The groups are led by pie guides who are familiar with the terrain and who help all abilities complete the challenge. We offer guided rides to make sure we offer the very best care to our cyclists:

  • All of our guides are experienced cyclists. They range from ex-professional racers to keen amateurs and all are very used to guiding groups of differing abilities, experience and skill
  • All of our guides will navigate their small group of approximately 10 cyclists from start to finish
  • They are on hand to do mechanical work so there is no waiting around for a mechanic’s van
  • Many pie guides are first aid trained
  • Cyclists can change groups / routes (up or down) at any time during the day if the routes overlap
