    8:00 am - 5:00 pm

We are delighted to be supporting the 100th anniversary of the Hakone Ekiden with the inaugural FT Nikkei UK Ekiden right here in the UK, .

Our plan is to start in Oxford and finish in Windsor, a beautiful 72 mile route along the Thames Path on Monday, 24th June, 2024. The inaugural UK Ekiden is set to be a long distance relay as part of a team of 10 people, you will pass the traditional tasuki sash instead of a baton. The sash symbolises unity and togetherness, and becomes a focal part of the emotion and excitement. The inaugural event will have a maximum of 21 teams with 10 participants in each team.

Dates:  Monday 24th June

Includes all food, post ride snacks and marshals.

Run for a Cause

With each step you take, you’ll be contributing towards a greater cause. The first year we will choose one Japanese and one British charity, as an additional step to connect our nations.

Runners are also welcome to raise for their own chosen charities.

For 2024 we are planning to donate to the Noto Peninsula reconstruction effort in Japan, and to a sport-related charity in the UK.

Corporate Event Sponsorship

While we celebrate our initial successes, we are still bringing sponsors and partners on board. We believe that the UK Ekiden provides a remarkable platform for businesses – British, Japanese and across the world-  to align themselves with the values of teamwork, resilience, and community engagement. We invite you to consider becoming a sponsor and join us in making this event truly extraordinary.

Sponsors not only contribute to the success of the event but also enjoy exclusive benefits, including team places. If your company shares our vision we encourage you to explore the various sponsorship packages available.

pie Guides

The run will be fully signed with support from marshals who are familiar with the terrain and who help everyone taking part in the challenge. For those not familiar with the pie staffing system:

  • All of our marshals are experienced in the industry
  • All of our marshals will support their section of the Ekiden form start to finish
  • Many pie marshals are first aid trained
  • We make it suitable for most standards of runners – check the minimum daily distances and elevations to make sure you are happy with your level of fitness vs the level of the challenge
