Walking with Craig – The Craig Maxwell Wales Coastal Path Charity Walk & Cycle 2024

Walking with Craig – The Craig Maxwell Wales Coastal Path Charity Walk & Cycle 2024

  • February 13, 2024 - March 10, 2024
    8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join Craig Maxwell for a hike along the Wales Coastal path as he aims to fundraise and raise awareness of the Maxwell Family Fund at Velindre. The funds raised will help support research and development of new and innovative cancer testing methods and treatments in Wales.

Craig will be walking 576 miles and cycling 204 miles, a total of 780 miles, of the Wales Coastal path, starting in Chester on Wednesday 14th February and ending at the Principality Stadium on Sunday 10th March for the Wales vs. France Guinness Six Nations match, where Craig accompanied by his children, Isla and Zach, will carry the match ball onto the pitch.

The reason for 780 miles is that it took 78 days for Craig to be diagnosed with a rare form of genetic lung cancer, EFFR+, which is an inoperable, incurable stage 4 diagnosis. Through a series of fundraising events such as the London Marathon, Cardiff to Paris bike ride, Paris to Bordeaux bike ride, and Welsh 3000s to name a few, Craig has so far raised nearly £1 million for Velindre Cancer Care. Craig is aiming to complete the event in 26 days, which is the amount of time he hopes to help to reduce the diagnosis time by.

This event will be fully supported, which will include mountain leaders, support vehicles and food (three food and drink stops a day and post-ride snacks).

Dates:  Tuesday 13th February – Sunday 10th March

Cost per day including fundraising: £500

Includes all food, post ride snacks and guides.

Excludes travel to or from any start/finish location.

Corporate Event Sponsorship

There are many opportunities for businesses to get involved in supporting the Wales Coastal Path Walk. Sponsorship opportunities can be from sponsoring a place for a charity beneficiary to join the walk or ride, sponsoring the jerseys, food, guides or vans – the opportunities are vast.

In return for corporate sponsorship, your company could be highlighted on the hiking tops, get exposure in match brochures, and be tagged in our social media.
