Thank you for signing up for the Great British Care Cycle Relay! Your participation is helping to shine a light on the incredible work of the care sector while fostering connections within communities across the UK.

Organised by Championing Social Care, this event is part of Care Home Open Week, celebrating the essential role care homes play in people’s lives. By cycling through different regions and stopping at care homes along the way, we’re bringing people together, raising awareness, and highlighting the dedication of those who work in social care.

Championing Social Care is a volunteer-led initiative dedicated to promoting positive stories from the care sector and encouraging greater public engagement. We run a series of programmes throughout the year to support, inspire, and celebrate the incredible people in social care.

Whilst there is no entry fee to take part, riders are asked to raise a minimum of £100 in donations to support the ongoing work of Championing Social Care, helping to promote positive stories about social care and strengthen connections between care services and their local communities. Training

With 3 months to go until the Great British Care Cycle Relay 2026, now is a great time to get started with your training. Before you start training, the first thing to do is make sure you get your bike serviced.

Below is a training plan provided by pie that will take you from a minimum level of fitness to being able to complete a 100km bike ride, the distance you will need to be able to ride in the cycle relay. This is a 13-week plan that you can amend or join on a week to suit you. All of the sessions are based on building distance rather than building time. Make sure you have done at least 80% of the distance by the time you join the ride!

The more you do now, the easier it will be on the day!
