After finishing her medical degree, Emma ‘found’ cycling after meeting her bike mad husband.
Sadly, he was a lot faster than she and subsequently bought a walkie talkie set so they could still chat on rides together! This was the incentive she needed to set about improving her skills.
That was 17 years ago and has resulted in her obsession of all that is bike related. Her hobby has led her to taking part in fundraising rides in France, several sportifs in the UK including the Prudential London 100 and in 2019 Emma was part of a team of four taking part in the red bull time-lapse 24-hour event. More recently she has also fallen for gravel biking and now leads gravel rides for her local club.
Emma has been a medic for both the Trans-Savoie mountain bike race through the French Alps and also the Enduro 2 event. More recently Emma has qualified as a Breeze Leader, a British cycling scheme to get more ladies cycling, and regularly helps groups of ladies starting out on their cycling journey.
She is a practising GP in rural Essex and has been involved in lecturing the next generation of Medics in communication skills, having worked for Warwick medical school, Addenbrookes hospital and Anglia Ruskin.
