In 2007 Gemma took a year out from medical education to work full time with the Great Britain Cycling Team under the supervision of psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters. She was part of the vast multidisciplinary team who aimed to achieve marginal gains for overall success. This ethos, led by Dave Brailsford, led to the Olympic success of Beijing 2008.
