Laura (Lala) Lawson

Lala took up cycling ten years ago riding recreationally with her partner to keep fit and completing the odd sportive challenge. Among others, she has completed Ride London, Tour of Yorkshire, Dartmoor Classic in the UK and further afield the Tour of Flanders, Amstel Gold & Vatternrundan sportives.

Although not starting cycling for fun until in her 30’s, Lala has a history of participation, education and working in Sport and Leisure.  She ran, swam and skied at county level as a youngster and qualified with a Sports Coaching diploma after senior school. She went on to study injury prevention and sport rehabilitation at degree level and subsequently worked in leisure management for five years. She now works as a Project and Policy Manager for Epping Forest.

She joined her first cycling club in 2013, after losing her confidence following a nasty crash.  She felt that being around people who could push her outside her comfort zone would help regain her confidence.  It worked and, having realised how important it was to have experienced riders sharing their hints and tips, she decided to seek opportunities to help others with their riding journey.

Lala is an advocate for women in cycling, she actively shares her passion for 2 wheels and aims to get more women on bikes. She holds several ambassadorial roles including Specialized UK Women, This Girl Can Essex and Active Essex ‘Find Your Active’. Lala is also a Breeze Ride Leader and has been leading women’s rides for over 4 years.  She loves nothing more than leading groups of women around the Essex lanes on social cake rides.

Lala is an experienced bike racer in several cycling disciplines, her favourite being cyclocross. She is also an active e-racer, a member of Aeonian Race Team, currently one of the strongest women’s teams on the global e-race platform, Zwift.

Lala loves sharing her knowledge with others so if she’s your guide, ask all the questions!
