Hannah Nicol Evans
Laura is a senior registrar in General Surgery with a specialist interest in trauma and Emergency Surgery as well as Upper Gastrointestinal surgery. She has experience in rural surgery as well as emergency medicine and Intensive Care as part of her training.
Laura has extensive research and teaching experience having completed a fellowship in Surgical Simulation, a diploma in Medical Education and a Masters degree in Surgical Science. She is currently working towards a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
Outside of the hospital environment, Laura works as a BASICS responder, provides medical cover for UK based endurance events, and works as a Scottish Rugby Union doctor, providing pitchside emergency medical support for both Rugby Union and Rugby 7’s. She has also experience of expedition and wilderness medicine, covering a variety of worldwide expeditions including treks at high altitude such as Mount Kilimanjaro.
As a qualified Rescue Scuba Diver (PADI), she enjoys spending time underwater and diving all over the world. She also enjoys both netball and road cycling and plays clarinet, piano, guitar and saxophone.
