The Coronavirus global pandemic has hit every industry. The British government has now implemented two strategies: (a) mitigation, which focuses on slowing the epidemic spread thereby reducing peak healthcare demand while protecting those most at risk, and (b) suppression, which aims to reverse epidemic growth, reducing case numbers and maintaining that situation indefinitely. The optimal mitigation policies of combining home isolation of suspect cases, home quarantine of those living in the same household as suspect cases, and social distancing is being implemented.
In addition to this the British Government has advised against all but essential international travel. We are taking the British Government’s assessment of the global situation as our guide. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice
For pie and our clients this means we are faced with huge logistical challenges to comply with the above while delivering the very best for our clients. We are working hard to keep events in the 2020 calendar. Please bear with us as we work through this. If you have any questions about an event you are booked on, please get in touch with us, or your company or charity.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has produced information on travel insurance implications following the outbreak. https://www.abi.org.uk/products-and-issues/topics-and-issues/coronavirus-qa/ If you have any further questions about your cover or would like further reassurance, you should contact your travel insurance provider.
We don’t sell insurance, but ask with every registration that you have your travel insurance in place asap after booking. However, every insurance policy is different and you will have to check what the terms are of your particular insurance policy. You may be able to claim if you choose not to attend an event depending on your insurance. Please check your own insurance.
On Our Events
Recognising how important hygiene is in passing on disease, we have always had hand washing gels available at all of the stops on our events and in our support vans. We encourage people to use these alcohol based gels as frequently as they like when out on the ride.
In addition, government advice is to wash hands thoroughly and as often as possible. As we stay in hotels overnight and often stop in bars and village halls for our refreshment stops, there will be plenty of opportunity to wash hands with water along the way. We also use compostable single use cups, plates and cutlery; recyclable tablecloths, napkins, etc to keep all of our cyclists healthy.
Please feel free to contact us for more information.
