The Government has published their plans for dealing with the Coronavirus and a link to this information can be found here:
We are taking the British Government’s assessment of the global situation as our guide for our events as well as Public Health England’s information. The Government’s guidance relating to Coronavirus is constantly being updated. The below link has a huge amount of information on it including links to other sites with even more information. Please read as much as possible to find out how you are affected and what you can do about it:
Existing pie Events
For events in 2021, please check with your company or charity for more information.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has produced information on travel insurance implications following the outbreak. If you have any further questions about your cover or would like further reassurance, you should contact your travel insurance provider. We don’t sell insurance, but ask with every registration that you have your own travel insurance in place asap. Every insurance policy is different and you will have to check what the terms are for your particular insurance policy. You may be able to claim if you choose not to attend an event depending on your insurance.
New pie Events
We are a small and agile company capable of whipping up a new event in a matter of days. Due to the pandemic there are currently travel restrictions imposed globally. As we see the rolling out of the vaccination programme throughout the UK, the interest in cycling events is mirroring that. We are now being asked for costs and itineraries for the UK and Europe. To make things easier for you, we will put together an entire event “on paper” for you and will not take deposits until we can be as sure as we can be that the event will go ahead.
On Our Events
We have developed 3 different policies to allow us to run events in keeping with government guidelines on social distancing and sanitation. These are based on each relevant council giving approval on a relevant risk assessment. They are divided into mass participation/sportives, guided multi day events and one day guided events.
Recognising how important hygiene is in passing on disease, we have always had hand washing gels available at all of the stops on our events and in our support vans. We encourage people to use these alcohol based gels as frequently as they like when out on our rides.
In addition, government advice is to wash hands thoroughly and as often as possible. As we stay in hotels overnight and often stop in bars and village halls for our refreshment stops, there will be plenty of opportunity to wash hands along the way. We also use compostable single use cups, plates and cutlery; recyclable tablecloths, napkins, etc to keep all of our cyclists healthy. Most of our food is also wrapped and packed for the consumers individual consumption. We are now offering more peelable fruit such as citrus and bananas rather than non peelable eg grapes and plums.
We hope that you and yours are safe and healthy and look forward to seeing you on a pie event in 2021.
